SS Personal Account Advocates

Supporting Social Security Reform

A number of diverse conservative groups ranging from the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council, The Indian American Republican Council, and the Log Cabin Republicans joined together to support “GW” on his Social Security Personal Accounts Initiative:

In a joint letter to the U.S. Senate, SBE Council President and CEO Karen Kerrigan joined with allies to support President George W. Bush’s initiative to create large personal accounts as part of the Social Security reform legislation currently being debated in Congress. Establishing personal accounts not only presents a solution to Social Security’s long term deficit, but also offers workers higher benefits than the current ‘Pay as You Go’ system.

A personal account provision allowing employees to contribute their share of the social security tax would foster economic growth through savings and investment, and allow working middle class families to realize hundreds of thousands of dollars by retirement—something the current system could never provide.

This letter is posted at the Americans for Tax Reform site.
