Mohammed Bouyeri frequently visited the El Tawheed mosque where he met other radical muslims, among whom the terrorism suspect Samir A.. With them he is said to have formed the Hofstad Network, a Dutch terrorist cell.
The man charged with the murder of the controversial Dutch film-maker Theo van Gogh is refusing to co-operate in his trial, which starts on Monday.
Prosecutors allege that Mohammed Bouyeri killed Theo van Gogh last year in a ritualistic murder carried out in the name of radical Islam.
He is also accused of the attempted murder of bystanders and police, and obstructing the work of an MP.
Mr Bouyeri has instructed his lawyer not to present a case in his defence.

When arrested Bouyeri had on him a poem on him as he was intending to die a “martyr”:

But this does not end the story.
Pinned to the body of Van Gogh with a smaller knife, Bouyeri left a second letter, consisting of five pages, in which Hirsi Ali, the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and politicians in general are warned. It contains repeated references to alleged Jewish influences in politics. The letter refers to the fundamentalist ideology of the Takfir wal-Hijra. This letter probably wasn’t written by Mohammed Bouyeri himself, but by his group’s ideologist.
When police searched Bouyeri’s home they found…
