Iran Blasts US Over Blatant Violation of International Rules!

Iran is formally protesting the US over the arrest of its diplomats in Iraq this week:

Iran has formally protested to the US over the arrest in Iraq of two Iranians that Tehran said were diplomats invited there by the Iraqi government.
American officials said US forces had detained several Iranians suspected of planning attacks in Iraq.

A spokesman for the Iraqi President, Jalal Talabani, said he is unhappy about the US action.

The White House said the arrests validated US claims of Iranian “meddling” in Iraq.

The Swiss ambassador in Tehran, who looks after US interests in Iran, was called to the foreign office to discuss the arrests, the Iranian news agency, Irna ,said.

The Iranian Fars News Service reports that the regime is very upset about the “occupiers” arresting their diplomats:

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iran Monday held occupiers of Iraq responsible for the arrest of its diplomats by the US military troops, stressing that Washington should account for the illegal acts of its forces.

After US military troops arrested some Iranian diplomats who were visiting Iraq at the invitation of that country’s government, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini described the measure as a blatant violation of the international rules and norms and warned that it will result in undesirable consequences and aftermaths.

“A few days ago, we were informed that the US military troops have, in an apparent violation of international regulations, arrested Iranian diplomats who were paying a visit to Iraq at the invitation of that country’s government,” he said, and further called on the US to account for its illegal act.

Iran also vowed that they would continue their nuclear programs despite the resolution imposing sanctions by the Security Council on Saturday.

Update: Forecasts for Iran are not so rosy. The News Buckit has analysis.
