Sports announcer Jim Lampley has been arrested for violating a restraining order from his girlfriend, Candace Sanders, Miss California USA 2003.

The 57-year-old Lampley was taken into custody Wednesday and booked on the felony charge and investigation of violating a restraining order and dissuading a witness, both misdemeanors.

Police were conducting a followup interview for a domestic violence complaint at the residence of Sanders, 28, when Lampley showed up at the residence.

Court records show that Sanders said that Lampley attacked her in her Encinitas apartment on New Year’s Eve.

“I received injuries to my head, neck and back from his throwing me against the walls and door,” she wrote in the order.

Sanders also claimed that Lampley had been drinking and smoking marijuana before attacking her.

Miss California 2003, Candace Sanders, put a restraining order on Jim Lampley after he beat her on New Year’s Eve.

Lampley has contributed several articles at the premier democratic website The Huffington Post website including my personal favorite anyway, “A Lost Romance“.

The Courier News reported that Lampley will cover the scheduled HBO fights this weekend. Lampley’s publicist, said Lampley is “looking forward” to the appearance: “That’s what he does. He doesn’t fight; he covers fights.”

Tell that to his girlfriend!
