Brits Honor Osama The Hero- Pakistanis Want Him Knighted

In Great Britain… Osama Bin Laden is a hero in a the prize-winning play with the same title- “Osama the Hero”, by English playwright Dennis Kelly, who wrote it soon after the invasion of Iraq. Mr. Kelley won Britain’s $20,000 Meyer-Whitworth award last November, after its first Australian production in Sydney.

Meanwhile in Pakistan… The “Father of the Taliban”, Sami ul Haq, wants Osama Bin Laden and Mullah Omar knighted and so does Pakistani Parliamentarian Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani.

Pakistani lawmaker and “Father of the Taliban” Sami ul Haq wants OBL knighted even though it is against British custom to knight foreigners- and despite the fact that OBL is a mass psychotic killer.

And… His father is considered one of the MMA party members that is less in disagreement with the pro-Western policies of Pakistan’s president General Pervez Musharraf.
ADN Kronos reported on the Maulana family:

A Pakistani parliamentarian on Wednesday defended a proposal by his father – also a MP – that Pakistan bestow honorary titles to Osama bin Laden and Taliban fugitive leader Mullah Omar in reply to Britain’s decision to knight Salman Rushdie.

“Osama Bin Laden and Mullah Omar lead the Muslim resistance movement and therefore deserve the respect among Muslims and they should be given respectful titles from Muslims,” National Assembly member Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani told Adnkronos International (AKI).

Maulana Sami ul-Haq’s faction, Jamiat-i-Ulema-i-Islam is formally part of a six-party alliance of opposition religious parties, the MMA. He was also known as the “father of the Taliban,” because many of the future leaders of the fundamentalist Kabul regime studied at a Muslim seminary he used to run. However of the MMA leaders, Maulana Sami ul-Haq is viewed as the one less in disagreement with the pro-Western policies of Pakistan’s president General Pervez Musharraf.
