Iran: "US Neocons Are Greatest Threat to Democracy"

Don’t look now, but the Iranian regime is stealing lines from the democratic playbook

Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad Najjar blamed US neocons for all of the problems in the world today. Najjar said that US neocons were the greatest threat to democracy and independence.
Fars News reported:

Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad Najjar (pictured) said that neoconservatives of the US are the greatest enemy of democracy and independence movements of nations.

Speaking in a meeting with the families of his ministry’s martyrs here in Tehran on Tuesday, the General stressed that such huge catastrophes as the terrorist attacks on the Islamic Republic’s key figures early after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran have all resulted from the radical policies of a minority group who reign the US.

He further pointed to a number of terrorist attacks on the Islamic Republic officials and citizens, including the terrorist blast at the headquarters of the Islamic Republic party in which 73 statesmen and MPs were killed, the terrorist attack on the prime ministers’ office in which the then president and prime minister of the Islamic Republic were martyred and the shooting down of Iran’s passenger plane by the USS Vincennes battleship, and said, “All such attacks either carried out by the US or its mercenaries served only one goal which is destruction of the pillars of the Islamic Republic ruling system.”

The minister said that continued terrorist measures designed and staged by a group of extremists in the US administration have discredited the US and damaged the peace-seeking reputation of the American people.

“Today the American people have become the victim of the belligerent and anti-human policies of this group and they are unwillingly paying the price of these policies by their lives and assets,” he continued.

The official described intensification of pressures against Iran as a fruitless and inefficient policy, warning that such policies will backfire on the West and that the Iranian nation will never forget the anti-Iranian policies and measures of the West.

He reiterated that the US neoconservatives lie about their support for democracy and human rights, saying that they actually allow terrorists to operate in Iraq and Afghanistan and let Israel massacre the innocent people in Lebanon and Palestine.

Meanwhile… Ahmadinejad repeated his threats against Israel and “warned Arab States” in a speech today in Tehran:

Noting his recent remarks that the countdown for the demise of the Zionist regime has started, he said, “When I say these words, expansionist powers grow upset and hold sessions, but this is a reality that with every crime criminals commit, they come one step closer to demise and death.”

The president warned certain regional countries about their approach towards Palestine, and recommended them to try to satisfy the oppressed nations instead of satisfying powerful countries.

Also today… Iranian Republican Guard forces were spotted by British troops crossing into Iraq according to reports.
