Another "Strange" Bombing Report At a Baghdad Wedding

Here comes another unconfirmed bombing report out of Baghdad complete with:

** Different versions of how the blast occurred
** Unauthorized sources
** No pictures of the devastation released at this time even though the scene of destruction is clearly described by the sources

Take a look at the differing accounts:
Reuters reported:

BAGHDAD (Reuters) – A car bomb killed 17 people and wounded 25 others outside a restaurant in a Shi’ite neighbourhood in southern Baghdad on Thursday, Iraqi police said.

Among the victims were women and children who were part of a group accompanying a newly wed couple.

The couple were in a nearby photographic shop having their pictures taken when the parked car exploded in the suburb of Abu Dshir, police said.

Now, here is the AFP version:

Local resident Ali Hussein, who rushed to the scene after the blast, said the wedding party had stopped at the Adel Photo Studio for pictures to be taken when a suicide car bomber collided with their convoy.

“I saw two minibuses completely burned out with bodies still inside them. People said the bomber was being chased by security forces but his car exploded when it hit the wedding party,” he said by telephone from the scene.

The BBC reported:

At least 17 members of a wedding party have been killed in a car bombing in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

At least 25 people, including the bride and groom, were also injured in the blast at about 1845 (1445 GMT) in the southern Shia district of Abu Dshir.

The explosion took place in front of a photo shop where the wedding party had gathered for pictures, according to AP.

An official at Yarmouk hospital, where the victims were taken, said the newlyweds escaped with minor injuries.

The AP report at FOX News:

The bomb in the Shiite district of Abu Dshir went off at 6:45 p.m. while dozens of relatives and friends of a bride and a groom waited as the couple walked in to take a wedding picture, according to police.

The blast ripped through those waiting outside, killing 17 people and wounding 28, said a police official at the nearest police station. An official at Yarmouk hospital, where the victims were taken, confirmed the toll and said the bride and groom were among those wounded, with minor injuries.

Both officials spokes on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the press.

The mainstream media certainly wouldn’t fabricate ANOTHER vicious attack in Iraq this week… Now after the bogus report from last week… Would they?

UPDATE: I heard back from MNF-I this evening. They are reporting a bombing in the Rashid area of Baghdad that would fit this story. I am hopefully going to hear back from the Iraqi Government Press Office. It is odd that there are not any media photos of the blast if this did indeed take place earlier today.

UPDATE 2: I stand corrected. The media is showing a photo from a funeral procession in the area today. It is not clear how the blast occurred.
