Charles Johnson pointed out the terrific piece by Sam Harris on radical Islam that was posted at Huffington Post after the Washington Post found it to be too offensive.
Here are a couple of the offensive lines:
The position of the Muslim community in the face of all provocations seems to be: Islam is a religion of peace, and if you say that it isn’t, we will kill you. Of course, the truth is often more nuanced, but this is about as nuanced as it ever gets: Islam is a religion of peace, and if you say that it isn’t, we peaceful Muslims cannot be held responsible for what our less peaceful brothers and sisters do. When they burn your embassies or kidnap and slaughter your journalists, know that we will hold you primarily responsible and will spend the bulk of our energies criticizing you for “racism” and “Islamophobia.”
…The problem is not, as is often alleged, that governments cannot afford to protect every person who speaks out against Muslim intolerance. The problem is that so few people do speak out. If there were ten thousand Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s, the risk to each would be radically reduced.
This is an excellent essay on the lack of Western criticism against the devilish acts carried out in the name of Islam.

Iranian blogger The Spirit of Man echoes Sam Harris today in describing the weakness of Western liberals. Winston posted this from Iranian blogger Azarmehr that was reported at FrontPage:
“We should enlighten and mobilize the left, because the Islamic Republic is not the “progressive” champion of the poor as some of the leftists in the West imagine. This is the same mistake that the Iranian left made and they paid a very heavy price for their mistake. The left in Iran were amongst the first victims of the religious tyranny that massacred them. The Ayatollahs hate no one more than the atheist socialists.”
But, the Left never learns.
Look no further than Barack Obama to see a prime example of a liberal elitist with a complete lack of understanding of the dangers facing this country.
At some point the Left will have to wake up.
Unfortunately, it will take another massive attack or two by Islamic radicals before that will happen.
