Christmas Snow & Ice Blankets Midwest

Nearly two-thirds of the US was blanketed with snow today.
Ice and snow covered the roads in and around St. Louis this Christmas.

I took this photo on Highway 40 going west near Forest Park. A multi-car pile-up stopped traffic going east-bound around noon today.
KSDK reported:

MoDOT wants to urge drivers to use caution on area roadways this Christmas. Temperatures have dropped Friday causing freezing temperatures and icy road conditions.

Several accidents have caused temporary road closures. Interstate 70 eastbound is closed at Lucas and Hunt for a multi-vehicle crash.

There are several accidents on the Poplar Street Bridge due to ice. MoDOT urges drivers to reduce speed and use caution, especially on bridges and overpasses.

East and Westbound I-64 is closed at McCausland due to a multi-vehicle crash.
