Happy Easter 2010

HAPPY EASTER 2010
John 10:17-18

“For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. “No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.”

The Magnolia tree is in full bloom this Easter.
I will spend this day with family. It will be a good time. And later I will come home and pull up under the Magnolia tree. It’s an amazing sight. For several years now I’ve looked forward to this time when the tree would blossom into a cloud of pink. I would draw the shades each morning and help my dear mother to her favorite chair by the window and she would sit and enjoy its beauty. With each passing year she would need just a little more help to get to her favorite chair. During the summer she would sit outside and count the blossoms on the Magnolia tree. There were always a few that would pop out in the summer months. She could sit there for hours if I would let her. And, when I sat with her she would count and tell me, “There are seven blooms today.”

My dear mother passed away last summer. She was such a sweet lady.

Today the Magnolia tree is in full bloom. I pull the shades and admire its beauty. And as I stand there looking out the window at the Magnolia I am reminded of His resurrection and the promise of new life for us all. I thank God for his blessings. And I pray that somewhere in heaven the Magnolia trees are blooming.
