The location of the proposed Ground Zero Victory Mosque (Daily Mail)
The AP run a story today claiming there is already a mosque 5 blocks from the World Trade Center in Manhattan and that Islam is already part of neighborhood. However AP Check reported that the only evidence for this is near the end of the article:
The center’s location, in a former Burlington Coat Factory store, is already used by the cleric for worship, drawing a spillover from the imam’s former main place for prayers, the al-Farah mosque. That mosque, at 245 West Broadway, is about a dozen blocks north of the World Trade Center grounds. Another, the Manhattan Mosque, stands five blocks from the northeast corner of the World Trade Center site.
Actually, that Masij mosque was evicted years ago according to their website.
The Masjid Manhattan website explains that their mosque was shut down years ago in 2008:
AP Check added that the closest real mosque is the Assata Islamic Center clear across the island in a different neigborhood. And are we really supposed to believe that they are using a Burlington Coat factory as a mosque already?
