After Historic Loss Dem Rep. Van Hollen Is Done as Chairman of DCCC

Congratulations Congressman Van Hollen on a job well done!
Don’t think of it as a shellacking. Think of it as a complete obliteration of a generation of democratic “progress.”

It was only 60+ seats, Representative.
The Hill reported:

Rep. Chris Van Hollen (Md.) said he’s finished at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) after two terms as its chairman.

Days after Republicans won dozens of Democratic seats in a wave election that handed control of the House to the GOP, Van Hollen said he wasn’t interested in serving another two years as the leader of House Democrats’ campaign efforts.

“When it comes to the DCCC chairmanship, I believe in term limits,” Van Hollen told liberal radio host Bill Press on Friday. “This will be the end.”

During Van Hollen’s tenure, Democrats added 21 seats to their majority on President Obama’s coattails in 2008. But Republicans picked up about 60 House seats Tuesday and could add to that total as the results are decided in a few remaining races.

The Maryland Democrat has also served the last two years in a leadership capacity in the House as assistant to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
