Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez appeared with his head almost shaved on Monday, saying his hair has begun to fall out because of his cancer treatment.
Chavez said his chemotherapy has been going well, and he joked about his appearance as he presided over a televised ceremony with Cabinet ministers.
“It’s a new look,” the president said, switching briefly into English with a grin.
The president had said he expected his hair to begin falling out as a result of the chemotherapy. “It indicates the treatment is being effective,” he said.
