MULTIPLE TERROR ATTACKS IN ISRAEL – At Least 7 Dead …Update: 17 Dead

Terrorists from Egypt killed at least 7 Israelis today in multiple terror attacks.

At least seven people are dead in multiple terror attacks in southern Israel.
YNet News reported:

Terrorists launched a multifocal terror attack on Israel’s south on Thursday, killing seven people and injuring 30. One of the wounded is in serious conditon.

Security forces, as well as Magen David Adom emergency services teams, were immediately dispatched to each of the scenes. The injured were treated on site and rushed to the Yoseftal Medical Center in Eilat.

In the first incident, Egged bus number 392, traveling from Beersheba to the southern resort city of Eilat, was ambushed by a three-man terror cell. Over a dozen people were wounded in the attack, which took place on Highway 12, about 30km north of Eilat, near the Ein Netafim junction.

Soon after that a second incident was reported, involving multiple roadside bombs and rocket fire at IDF forces patrolling the Israel Egypt border fence.

A third incident was reported at around 1pm, involving yet another shooting on a bus and a private vehicle traveling south. Five people reportedly suffered mortal wounds in the attack.

The attacks lasted for 3 hours.
Chron.com reported:

Squads of gunmen armed with heavy weapons, guns and explosives crossed into southern Israel from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula on Thursday, killing seven Israelis in an audacious series of attacks, officials said. The violence stoked concerns about Palestinian militants exploiting instability in Egypt.

The attacks began around midday and lasted for about three hours. Israeli security forces tracked down some of the attackers and killed several in a gunbattle, military spokesman Brig.-Gen. Yoav Mordechai said. Israeli TV channels said seven assailants were killed.

Israel almost immediately said the attackers came from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip and made their way through Sinai, which borders both Israel and Gaza. That raised the specter of an Israeli military reprisal against the Palestinian territory.
