Akin and McCaskill in Statistical Dead Heat in Missouri

Rep. Todd Akin and Claire McCaskill are in a statistical dead heat in Missouri. Akin leads among independent voters.
KMOV reported:

A new poll shows the Missouri Senate race is too close to predict a winner.

The News 4, St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Kansas City Star poll shows Senator Claire McCaskill with a 2 percent lead over Congressman Todd Akin, at 45 and 43 percent, respectively…

A few interesting numbers from the poll:

– McCaskill leads Akin 53 percent to 35 percent among voters age 18-34.

Akin leads McCaskill 42 percent to 36 percent among independents who have made up their minds.

– Akin’s comments on rape were rated “Very Important” or “Somewhat Important” by 53 percent of voters, and “Not Too Important” or “Not At All Important” by 44 percent of voters.

Mitt Romney leads Barack Obama 54 to 41 percent in the poll.
