Oceanside School Locked Down After Reports of Man With a Gun Near Campus …Update: Lockdown Lifted

An Oceanside school was locked down this afternoon after reports of a man with a gun near campus. Laurel Elementary School, at 1410 Laurel Street, was locked down at about 12:30 p.m.
KOMO reported:

An Oceanside school has been locked down after authorities received reports of a man carrying a gun near the campus.

Authorities said Laurel Elementary School (1410 Laurel Street) was locked down at about 12:30 p.m. after reports of a man with a gun near the school were received.

Local 10News has more:

Police told 10News that three students at the school were at recess and playing near a fence when a man approached them and told them they should run.

According to officers, the students got scared, went into their classroom and told a teacher — which prompted the lockdown.

UPDATE: Police lifted the lock down later this afternoon.
