U.S. President Barack Obama announced plans on Tuesday to leave 9,800 U.S. troops in Afghanistan after the formal troop drawdown at the end of this year, a senior administration official said. Obama says he’ll bring those troops home in 2016 before the election.

“I think it’s worse than a political act to announce the leave. It’s kind of an act of personal narcissism.”
