Barack Obama awarded the Medal of Honor to Army Fist Lt. Alonzo Cushing today. Cushing was a Civil War hero who died during the Battle of Gettysburg.
Obama reminded the audience today that if it wasn’t for Alonzo he might not be standing here today.
“I’m mindful that I might not be standing here today as president if it had not been for the ultimate sacrifices of those courageous Americans.”
