As Denver Police Officer John Adsit was lying in the hospital in critical condition, someone stole his family car.
Officer Adsit was seriously injured during a protest for Mike Brown in December.
Earlier this month four police officers were struck by a car while monitoring a Mike Brown student protest at East High School in Denver. Police Officer John Adsit was hit and dragged underneath the car for 25 yards.
The Denver police union said the protesters cheered and chanted “hit him again” after four officers were hit by a runaway car.
Adsit has undergone eight surgeries since the accident to repair crushed ribs, a punctured lung, severed arteries, multiple broken bones, skin and organ loss. He has also fought pneumonia, fever and infection, according to his family.
Thieves stole the family car during a candlelight vigil for the officer.
When an officer dies in the line of duty, memorial services draw law enforcement from around the state. Funerals deservedly are front-page news.
Here is an officer who was badly injured while on duty. He deserves a great deal more support from city officials, school leaders and the community.
