Writer Says Trailer for Female Ghostbusters Movie DESTROYED THE PATRIARCHY (VIDEO)

Ghostbusters

The official trailer for the new all-female Ghostbusters movie is out and the social justice warriors are making hay while the sun shines.

A writer for USA Today is even claiming that the trailer destroyed the patriarchy.

This is not parody…

5 times the new ‘Ghostbusters’ trailer destroyed the patriarchy

The first trailer for the all-new, all-female Ghostbusters is here and goodness gracious it is everything we hoped and dreamed for. In addition to being incredibly hilarious and visually on point, the trailer is also unabashedly proud of its four female leads and the feminism it is espousing. Don’t believe us? We rounded up five times the trailer used proton packs to shoot right through Hollywood conventions about gender.

1. “A new team will answer the call”

Ready for your new heroes? They’re not any different from Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson. This isn’t “female Ghostbusters,” it’s just Ghostbusters. Director Paul Feig said as much at the launch event for the trailer. “The first movie worked because it had four of the funniest people,” he said. “And honestly, I just want the funniest people. And the funniest people I happen to know are these women. It shouldn’t be about that (that they are all women). Ghostbusters are for everybody.”

2. Even the ghost is a woman

Talk about all women all the time. The trailer is entirely composed of ladies (save for Chris Hemsworth, but more on him below) from the get-go, including the first ghost we get to see (also, great joke from Kristen Wiig just after this).

3. “Sorry”

It was subtle and may fly past some viewers, but Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig had a total woman-in-a-meeting moment in the trailer. Here’s to hoping the movie goes into other little moments from women’s lives.

4. Kate McKinnon

Licking guns? Making us swoon? Wearing that wig? The SNL actress is playing with gender and sexuality conventions all over the place and we can’t wait for more.

5. Chris Hemsworth, eye candy

How many trailers have you seen where a woman was in a revealing outfit and didn’t speak? Oh, wait, all of them. Ghostbusters took aim at this tired, sexist trope by very pointedly only had women speak in this trailer and including this female-gaze shot of Hemsworth that would, in a conventional Hollywood action film, be something more like Megan Fox in a bikini. And it has been.

Another progressive writer is telling people how to talk about the movie.

Hat tip to Ace of Spades.

The left is insane.
