StL County Police Officer in Critical Condition After Shooting …Update: Officer Is Dead

UPDATE: The officer died.

A St. Louis County police officer was shot and is in critical condition after he was sent to check on a disturbance in Green Park.

The officer was shot when he stepped out of his car.

KMOV reported:

A St. Louis County Police Officer and a suspect are in critical condition following a shooting in south St. Louis County.

The officer was called to the 10700 block of Arno in Green Park, which is located south of Affton, around 5:05 a.m. Thursday for a disturbance.

According to Officer Benjamin Granda, the suspect fired at the officer, striking him, almost immediately when he arrived the scene. The officer’s partner returned fire, striking the suspect.

Officer Granda said the officer and suspect were taken to the hospital for “life-saving treatment.”

The officer was outside his vehicle when he was shot.
