Let’s take a look at past and present treatment of hacked material, and how it was regarded in progressive media circles prior to this election cycle.
The single best contrast can be found when examining coverage of hacked Pentagon data on the Iraq war. There was very little handwringing over hacked data that embarrassed President Bush and the US military.

Not to be outdone, the New York TImes also argues for a Snowden pardon.
So you see, Edward Snowden, a hacker living in Russia under Putin’s protection, deserves a hero’s pardon. But the very same media also say Putin is a criminal who hacked America’s democracy. So which is it? It can’t be both.
