Times Square in New York City was shut down late Sunday night as the police bomb squad investigated two “suspicious devices” placed about fifty feet apart, reported WCBS-TV. Photos taken by workers and tourists at Time Square show police vehicles amid an eerie emptiness on streets and sidewalks in the busiest intersection in the world.
…”Two devices were found within 50 feet of each other near 44th Street and Seventh Avenue around 11:20 p.m., officials told CBS2…”
Update from NYPD Assistant Commissioner for Communication & Public Information J. Peter Donald gives all clear:
Update: The two suspicious packages in Times Square have been cleared & deemed safe. 42nd Street will be re-opening shortly.
