ADL Posts Obligatory Tweets About Slaughter of Jewish Family; Much More Energized about Accusing Trump Supporters of “Islamophobia”

The ADL finally got around yesterday to mentioning a horrific and fatal Muslim terrorist attack on a Jewish Israeli extended family eating its sabbath dinner together on Friday. In doing so, the ADL carefully avoided the terms “Muslim” and “Islamic” to describe the murderer.

An Islamic terrorist slaughtered a Jewish family at the dinner table on Friday.

As The Jerusalem Post was quoted yesterday in the Gateway Pundit article titled “Islamic Terrorist Slaughters Jewish Family with Knife at Dinner Table” :

Three Israelis were killed and one seriously wounded in a stabbing attack in the West Bank town of Halamish on Friday evening.

The Israel Defense Forces reported that a Palestinian assailant infiltrated a private home in the community of Halamish, also known as Neve Tsuf, north west of Ramallah, and stabbed four Israeli civilians. Three of the victims died as a result of their wounds, and one was evacuated to Shaare Tzedek hospital. The assailant was shot by a neighbor.

A 60-year-old man, a 60-year-old woman, and a 40 year-old-man were killed and a woman, approximately 60-years-old, was hospitalized.

The ADL’s two-days-later statement, titled “ADL Statement on Terror Attack in Halamish,” while not inaccurate, carefully avoids the use of the word “Muslim” to describe the murderer, choosing instead to use the term “Palestinian.” The term “Palestinian” of course can also refer to Christians, although there seem for some strange reason, to be fewer and fewer of those lately (note recent demographic trends in Bethlehem). It’s a subtle difference, but it is a difference.

Here’s how the second paragraph of the ADL’s “statement” reads (notice what’s missing now?):

“The ADL On Friday, a Palestinian terrorist broke into the Halamish home of the Salomon family as they gathered to eat Shabbat dinner and celebrate the birth of their new grandchild. He then proceeded to stab and kill Yosef Salomon and his daughter Chaya and son Elad. Yosef’s wife Tova was also injured in the attack.”

It gets worse.

In the third paragraph of the ADL’s “statement,” there is the following passage:

“During an initial investigation following the attack, the terrorist said he has purchased the knife used two days ago, wanting to commit a terror attack because of events surrounding the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.”

In other words, the ADL uses the weasely phrase “events surrounding the Temple Mount in Jerusalem,” completely leaving out the quite relevant fact that those “events surrounding the Temple Mount” were in fact initiated by nothing less than the ambush murder of two Israeli (Druze, not Jewish) policemen, Haiel Sitawe and Kamil Shnaan, by Muslims at a location which Muslims supposedly consider a sacred site.

We’re not even close to done yet.

Unlike The Gateway Pundit, the ADL has so far oh-so-high-mindedly also avoided showing any pictures of the carnage, even anywhere on its Twitter feed.

In contrast to how The Gateway Pundit article, in its third sentence, with accompanying photos, reads: “Volunteers were pictured wiping up blood after the gruesome Islamist murder.”, the ADL “statement” finally gets around at its end to a variation of the word “Islam” or “Muslim,” and in that case only indirectly, as a quote and not even in reference to the murderers.

That tepid mention is in the following part: ” … inspired by the rash of anti-Israel and anti-Semitic incitement during the past few days from Palestinian and other voices in the Muslim world.”

That sentence is immmediately followed by predictable, “everyone does it” moral equivalence: “Such heinous crimes are immoral and inexcusable in the name of any faith.”

(For what it’s worth, the ADL “Statement on Terror Attack in Halamish” opens with a bizarre circularly self-referential sentence: “New York, NY, July 23, 2017 … The Anti-Defamation League released a statement on Friday’s terror attack in Halamish …”)

Now, to be fair, the ADL did manage to get three cursory 140-characters-or-fewer statements in shortly after the gruesome jihad attack. Friday at 4:09 PM, ADL National Director Jonathan Greenblatt, who worked for Barack Obama before assuming his position with the ADL, tweeted: “Heartbroken by killings of Israelis on #Shabbat.”

That three-part tweet also included a boilerplate bow to moral equivalence: “Such heinous crimes are amoral & inexcusable in the name of any faith.”, as well as a scolding to Israel that “All should have access to holy sites.”

It certainly appears that, in general, the genuine passion among those who support the “anti-‘hate'” ADL is much less about Jewish lives than it is about hatred of the Right in this country. Thus, In a situation very telling about where the ADL’s and its members’ enthusiasm and energy are (a not-unreasonable proxy is who actively follows Greenblatt on Twitter), the “heartbroken” tweet has, as of now, received six replies, 45 retweets and 79 heart icons. In contrast, the following why-is-this-even-an-ADL-matter?!? tweet from Greenblatt from Friday morning has received nine replies, 68 tweets and 239 heart icons:

“We applaud the leadership of @LindseyGrahamSC and @SenatorDurbin. The #DreamAct is necessary to protect immigrant youth.”

At the ADL twitter page, there is an interesting situation in terms of what has been pinned to the top. One would certainly understand, given the ADL’s one-time raison-d’etre of protecting Jews, if the snuffing out of innocent Jewish lives were considered pin-worthy. But apparently that is not a particularly important priority. Remaining, as of now, pinned to the top is the following now-two-weeks-old, low-level harassment of the Trump Administration: “The Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat #AntiSemitism is an open job. Call on @POTUS to appoint one: http://adlaction.purpose.com/special-envoy”

The Gateway Pundit also looked into the tweeting the last few days of the ADL’s new Florida Chair, Tracey Grossman, who recently took over that position from Scott “[@realDonaldTrump,] How does it feel to be so hated? You obviously enjoy it!” Notowitz. Could Grossman, a self-described “ADL Groupie, passionate Jew, outspoken civil rights advocate” be bothered at any point since the gruesome anti-Semitic jihad murders in Israel to write a single 140-character-or-less message about it?

Apparently not.

She did, however, make it a priority earlier Friday, the same day as the attack, to tweet, among other things, the following:

– “Kudos to @TwitterSafety for their continued progress to #CreateAHateFreeWorld.”
https://twitter.com/tracey_grossman/status/888394581326180352

– “Urge your Members to protect immigrant youth and #DefendDACA http://bit.ly/2uPPymr”
https://twitter.com/tracey_grossman/status/888394772737531904

– “We have delivered thousands of signatures to the @StateDept calling on @POTUS to appoint #antiSemitism envoy: http://bit.ly/2uPW3WD”
https://twitter.com/tracey_grossman/status/888394772737531904

And then there is the issue of the ADL’s cynical feigning of concern about Jewish lives in Israel contrasted with its apparent very real passion in countering “islamophobia.”

There seems to be an element of trying to have it both ways due to an ultimate overriding priority .. revenue for the ADL ($52 million taken in in 2015… of which $32 million was paid to itself in salaries). Namely, to obtain as much money in terms of donations from wealthy, pro-Israel-in-their-own-minds Jewish Democrats while simultaneously earning substantial revenue from the public via, among other things, not-for-free “#NoPlaceForHate” “anti-‘hate'”/ “anti-‘bullying'”/ “anti-‘islamophobia'” presentations at government schools.

In contrast to the ADL’s half-assed “concern” about the attack Friday night, the passion about “islamophobia” cannot be missed in the ADL’s cynical, drawing-public-outrage, donations-from-leftist-bigots-seeking fundraising effort to put targets on prominent Trump supporters.

The whole vile ADL “From Alt Right to Alt Lite: Naming the Hate” fundraising endeavor simply needs to be seen in its entirety to be appropriately “appreciated,” but, as an example, one of the Trump-supporintg individuals on whom the ADL placed a target, possibly to facilitate the efforts of a marginal James Hodgkinson type, is The Gateway Pundit’s own White House correspondent, Lucian Wintrich.

Wintrich is one of a number of people the ADL excoriates for “islamophobia” via guilt-by-association in its recently published hit piece:

Lucian Wintrich is a conservative activist and White House correspondent for the The Gateway Pundit, a right-wing blog sometimes associated with the alt right, and known for promoting conspiracy theories and propaganda. During the 2016 campaign, Wintrich organized a “Twinks4Trump” photo series featuring provocative pictures of men wearing ‘Make America Great Again’ caps. The photos were featured at the Wake Up! LGBT party at the 2016 Republican National Convention, which Wintrich helped organize. Wintrich called the event “a huge success…with incredible speakers,” including Islamaphobes like Pamela Geller and far-right Dutch politician Geert Wilders, who told party-goers, “First, we should acknowledge that Islam is the problem…if you allow Islam to be planted on your soil, don’t be afraid that you will harvest sharia law, because Islam and sharia law [are] exactly the same.”

It is worth noting that, in keeping with the now-apparently-universalist goals of the ADL, its Twitter page’s current cover photo featuring six people, include a female in a hijab (as well as three people of African descent) but no one identifiably — or even who looks minimally stereotypically — Jewish.

Could the cynicism and inconsistency in terms of how the ADL deals with the Islamic terrorism issue be all that much more striking? But we really shouldn’t be shocked, should we?
