One Year Ago: Gateway Pundit Predicted Donald Trump Will Win the Presidential Election – And We Were Right

Guest post by Joe Hoft

One year ago we made our first prediction regarding the national Presidential election.

We predicted that Donald Trump would win by a landslide.

This appeared risky at the time because all of the polls at the time said that Hillary had a huge lead in the race.
To support our position, we presented insurmountable evidence from social media.  We noted –

Facebook

Trump: 10,174,358 Likes Clinton: 5,385,959 Likes
Trump had nearly double the amount of ‘Likes’ that Clinton has!

When comparing recent ‘live streams’ on Facebook:

Trump Live Stream Post — 135,000 likes, 18,167 shares, 1.5 million views
Clinton Live Stream Post —11,000 likes, 0 shares, 321,000 views

Twitter

Trump: 10.6 million followers
Hillary: 8.1 million followers

Trump had 30% more Twitter followers — and they translate into real votes. A recent study confirmed that 70% of his followers are real supporters, and 90% of those real followers have a voting history.

Who knows if Hillary followers are even real?

Youtube Live Stream

Trump: Averages 30,000 live viewers per stream
Clinton: Averages 500 live viewers per stream

Trump has 5900% more live viewers than Clinton. That’s plain devastation!

Instagram

Trump: 2.2 million followers
Clinton: 1.8 million followers

Trump has 22% more Instagram followers.

Reddit

Trump: 197,696 subscribers
Hillary: 24,429 subscribers
Hillary for Prison: 55,228 subscribers

Hillary for Prison’s Reddit feed has more than double subscribers of Hillary’s Reddit page, equating to Trump having 700% more Reddit subscribers.

Breitbart News reposted our article –  Gateway Pundit: Social Media Patterns Show Trump Is Looking at a Landslide Victory.

However, not all websites or media outlets were in agreement with our prediction.

Leon Wolf at Redstate posted an article titled:  Breitbart Cites Gateway Pundit to Prove Trump Will “Win in a Landslide” Because He Has More Facebook Likes

Wolf shared that basically Republican voters were stupid and that Donald Trump was a stupid liar:

This is the most 2016 thing that has ever happened. Here is a post in which Breitbart News cites Gateway Pundit in a non-joking way in order to convince their readers that Trump will “win in a landslide” because he’s doing better on social media than Hillary. The polls, you see, are fake, and are designed to prevent you from voting for Trump. What you really need to look at is who has more Facebook likes. I am not kidding…

Now listen, I am the first to admit that I wrongly predicted that Trump was not going to win the nomination. So by no means is my record of political predictions unblemished. I wrongly overestimated the intelligence and critical thinking skills of a huge portion of Republican primary voters, and assumed that sufficient exposure to the fact that Trump does not know his elbow from his anus, lies habitually (especially to his supporters) and has no core principles (and that includes on immigration) would cause his voters to abandon him.

I was wrong, I admit it, my bad. You guys really proved all us elitists wrong by showing that you are not going to abandon a candidate for silly, outdated reasons like a lack of basic decency, honesty, or command of the issues.

Wolf then concluded:

I am proud to say that at no point during the entire sad primary debacle did I attempt to suggest something as nonsensical as the fact that Trump’s social media presence means he is going to win in a landslide in spite of the fact that polls show that he is prepared to lose in a landslide. I mean, that is the same kind of crap the Ron Paul supporters claimed to believe for years, and I wonder how that worked out for them in 2008 and 2012? The idea that anyone would pass this off as a serious analysis is truly astounding, even for these jokers.

This kind of fantasy thinking is really what led to the rise of Trump and I am glad to see it being used in his service. When it turns out to be disastrously wrong, maybe some small percentage of his supporters will think twice about what sources they will trust to get their news. Not many, admittedly, but hopefully at least some.

A few days before the election in November we again predicted that Donald Trump would win the election with a probable landslide.  We based this prediction again on social media and other indicators, such as the fact that the President was setting attendance records at coliseums around the country while Hillary Clinton could barely fill a high school gymnasium.

President Trump won the election in a landslide when counting by states (30+), electoral college (306 to Hillary’s 232) or US counties as the map shows below –

A year later after Wolf and Redstate being “disastrously wrong”, President Trump and his supporters know where they can go to get news they can trust – here at the GWP!
