6.1 Earthquake Off New Zealand Follows 7.1 Quake near Mexico City — 119 Dead

A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck off of New Zealand on Tuesday night (Wednesday morning local time).

This was the second quake today on the “Ring of Fire” zone in the Pacific Ocean.

The quake struck 256 kilometers west of Aukland Island.

A 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck near Mexico City Monday afternoon.

At least 119 people were killed in the attack.

Part of an elementary school collapsed today during the attack.

Emergency workers are still rescuing people tonight after the quake.
