Tone Deaf Ted Cruz Posts Trivia Question, Photos from Racetrack After Sutherland Springs Church Massacre

Texas U.S. Senator Ted Cruz deleted a presidential trivia question tweet posted in the aftermath of the massacre at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas that occurred late Sunday morning. Keying off a RedState article, Cruz’s question asked, “Trivia Q: Who was the first “President of the United States…”? Bet you’ll get it wrong!”

Cruz followed up the deleted trivia tweet with a photo of himself at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, which showed that he was in the state but not headed to Sutherland Springs like Gov. Greg Abbott. The photo was posted about four hours after the 11:30 a.m. CST shooting.

Cruz was holding a campaign appearance where he retweeted photos of himself grilling hot dogs at the racetrack over an hour and twenty minutes after the shooting. Cruz posted a brief statement on the church shooting one hour after the hot dogs photos retweet and two hours and twenty minutes after the shooting.

Cruz later posted that he was in touch with Gov. Abbott.

Sutherland Springs is about a four hour drive from Fort Worth, shorter with police escort.

Cruz is being challenged by Democratic Party U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke for re-election next year. Did Cruz just give him an opening with his tone deaf response?
