Campaigning for Vietnam Vet Roy Moore, Navy Vet Steve Bannon Rips Mitt Romney for ‘Hiding Behind Religion’ to Avoid Vietnam

Navy veteran Steve Bannon, campaigning in Fairhope, Alabama for Vietnam veteran Roy Moore Tuesday night, ripped Mitt Romney for avoiding military service during Vietnam, accusing him of ‘hiding behind his religion’. Bannon blistered Romney–and his five sons–for not serving in the military during wartime. Romney received a draft deferment for two-and-a-half years while he was in France as a Mormon missionary. Romney also received several college deferments during the war.

Bannon’s attack was in response to Romney tweeting on Monday, “Roy Moore in the US Senate would be a stain on the GOP and on the nation. Leigh Corfman and other victims are courageous heroes. No vote, no majority is worth losing our honor, our integrity.”
