Twitter ‘Temporarily Restricts’ Account of WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange

Twitter has “temporarily restricted” the account belonging to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

When users attempt to access the account, they are met with a message that states, “Caution: this account is temporarily restricted.” It goes on to claim that “you’re seeing this warning because there has been some unusual activity from this account.” Users are then asked to verify that they still want to see his Twitter feed.

The six tweets and re-tweets sent out by Assange over the last 24 hours include a video of Congressman Adam Schiff appearing on CNN and a couple of tweets regarding Chelsea Manning’s run for senate.

In response to the account lockdown, several people joked that it makes sense for truth to be “unusual” to the Democrats running Twitter.

Undercover journalists with Project Veritas recently released footage of Twitter Direct Messaging Engineer Pranay Singh admitting that the US government pressures them to mess with the accounts of people they wish to censor — including Assange.

When asked about Assange’s lack of verification and his account mysteriously going down on Christmas Eve, Singh said that the government pressures them “because they don’t like people messing with their politics, and he has shit on a lot of people.”
