Pathetic: McCabe Launches GoFundMe Seeking $150,000 For Legal Defense, ‘Potential Lawsuits’

Disgraced former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe has launched a fundraiser seeking $150,000 for his legal defense after being fired.

McCabe’s plea appears to be highly profitable, as he raised over $12,000 in the first hour the GoFundMe went live.

The fundraiser for his legal defense and “any potential lawsuits he might consider” comes as his conduct is being probed by the Justice Department’s inspector general.

“Unfortunately, the need for a legal defense fund is a growing reality.  Media reports indicate that at a minimum, there are a number of congressional inquiries that he will be required to respond to, as well as the broader Office of the Inspector General (OIG) investigation that is ongoing, and any potential lawsuits he might consider,” the fundraiser page reads.

McCabe’s wife, Jill McCabe, accepted a $467,000 donation from an ally of Hillary Clinton while running for Senate in 2015. The massive donation came from Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe, and was widely criticized as improper.

“The financial and political links between Mr. McCabe and Gov. McAuliffe raise concerns about the appearance of impartiality in the course of not only the Clinton investigation, but the reported McAuliffe investigation, and the ongoing investigation of alleged ties between associates of Mr. Trump and Russia,”  Senator Chuck Grassley said in a letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in January.

Mr. McCabe’s legal team is being led by former Department of Justice Inspector General Michael R. Bromwich at Robbins, Russell, Englert, Orseck, Untereiner & Sauber LLP.

The fundraising page states that they may raise the goal amount above the $150,000 they are currently cyber-panhandling for.

McCabe’s net worth is reportedly in the range of $10-11 million.

UPDATE: Within the first hour the campaign surpassed $22,000.
