Devin Nunes Gives a Sneak Preview of What GOP Lawmakers Will be Grilling Robert Mueller About During Hearing

Ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee Devin Nunes said in a podcast interview with Fox News’ Bill Hemmer that he plans on grilling Mueller about Weissmann’s shady briefing with AP reporters.

Nunes told Bill Hemmer that he doesn’t want to reveal everything, but he said that he and his fellow GOP lawmakers have a strategy in place to make sure they get as many answers from Mueller as possible — that’s if Mueller shows up to Capitol Hill on July 24.

Nunes says he plans on making sure every question he asks Mueller is a straight “yes” or “no” answer to prevent him from “pontificating” and wasting time.

Mueller’s deputy and “pit bull” Andrew Weissmann briefed reporters for the Associated Press in 2017 on “something to do with the Trump-Russia investigation” before Mueller’s team was even assembled and he hid this fact from the House Intel Committee, which was in the middle of its own Trump-Russia probe.

Nunes says this alone should have disqualified Weissmann from being allowed to serve as a top prosecutor on Mueller’s special counsel team.

Furthermore, Weissmann was briefed on the phony Steele dossier in the summer of 2016 and Nunes said Weissmann “was in the chain of custody of the major piece of evidence that started this investigation.”

Nunes said the Russia investigation was never about Russia, rather it was an “obstruction of justice trap” and that there was never any evidence that Trump colluded with Russia.

“These are all a bunch of dirty cops and I’ll tell you, I’ll tell you – – some of them better go to jail or we’re going to go down in a spiral in this country because you will not have a Republican that will trust the FBI or the Department of Justice for generations to come,” Nunes said.

Devin Nunes also hinted that he will be asking Mueller about the destruction of evidence and referred to the ‘missing’ Strzok-Page text messages after their phones were scrubbed and changed to ‘factory settings.’

President Trump actually called Mueller out about the “illegal deletion” Saturday morning in a tweet.

TRUMP: This is one of the most horrible abuses of all. Those texts between gaga lovers would have told the whole story. Illegal deletion by Mueller. They gave us “the insurance policy.”
