Jesse rejected the notion that Huga Chavez was a threat to regional stability toay:

Jesse called on the Bush administration to tone down the anti-Chavez rhetoric and make some effort towards resolve apparent differences.

The AP tells a whopper in propping up the Marxist Chavez:

In a speech to Venezuela’s National Assembly, Jackson said every country has a right to self-determination, and touched on subjects from poverty to Martin Luther King Jr.’s role in the civil rights struggle of American blacks.

Since taking office in 1999, Chavez has survived a 2002 coup, a 2003 strike and a recall referendum last year. He is up for re-election next year, and recent polls suggest he has a 70 percent approval rating.

Jackson is also meeting with the African-Venezuelans while in country.

Hugo Chavez spoke on Marxism earlier in the month at a world socialist youth rally in Venezuela:

“I believe it is time that we take up with courage and clarity a political, social, collective and ideological offensive across the world — a real offensive that permits us to move progressively, over the next years, the next decades, leaving behind the perverse, destructive, destroyer, capitalist model and go forward in constructing the socialist model to avoid barbarism and beyond that the annihilation of life on this planet.”
