Al Gore Blames Media for Demise of Canadian Liberals

Earth to Al… it wasn’t one non-biased media channel that brought down the Liberal Government in Canada.

Al Gore attacks the “ultra” conservatives in Canada with “puzzling” remarks. And, he blames the Canadian Liberals loss on “media concentration”:

“The election in Canada was partly about the tar sands projects in Alberta,” Gore said Wednesday while attending the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.

“And the financial interests behind the tar sands project poured a lot of money and support behind an ultra-conservative leader in order to win the election… and to protect their interests.”

Darcie Park, spokeswoman for oilsands giant Suncor Energy, said she’s taken aback by Gore’s remarks and hopes they don’t resonate with Canadians.

“Our company just doesn’t do business that way. We’re really puzzled about where these comments came from,” she said.

…Gore believes the issue of the oilsands and the sway he contends the industry holds with Harper didn’t garner news coverage during the election because “media concentration has taken a toll on democratic principles around the world, and Canada is no exception.”

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) approved an application in November 2004 to allow the FOX News Channel onto Canadian digital airwaves. The CRTC rejected a CCTA application to bring Fox to Canada the previous November. In July of 2004 the CRTC gave approval to Aljazeera to air in digital braodcast. Because of public outrage from this decision, the thought police in the CRTC later felt forced to allow FOX News to broadcast on Canadian airwaves. So, Fox News started broadcasting in Canada sometime in 2005.

It has to be this news channel, the only media outlet of its kind in the Great White North, that is the “media concentration” that Al Gore was referring to in his speech. How delusional!

Or maybe he was referring to the blogs?

The thought police are so in control of information in Canada that they set up the laws so that the people were not even allowed to see this damning news of corruption by the Liberal Government. They had to get the information from alternative sources like Captain’s Quarters.

Still, the news did get out and most Canadians believe the Liberals lost because of corruption. But, Al Gore has different thoughts. He says it’s the media and oil. He must have some great contacts up in Canada or surely he would not have made such incendiary statements on our northern neighbor’s political process.

Or, maybe the Truth Laid Bear is right after all.
