Democrat Rangel: "Americans Don't Care About Future of Mideast Nor Should They"

Democratic Leader Charlie Rangel (D-NY) in an interview on FOX News today said that Americans don’t care about the future of the Middle East nor should they.

Rangel:

“I don’t think Americans go to sleep each night worrying about whether Sunnis or Shiites prevail in this part of the world, nor should they…

Do you think for one minute that anyone believes that the solution to this problem is going to make our lives any more safe?

Good for the FOX News announcer Martha MacCallum for challenging his outlandish remarks:

And, did you catch this absurdity?

“Taking the troops out doesn’t mean we leave a vacuum.”

Huh?
This is what the Opinion Journal said about the democratic plan to cut funds and run:

Once we leave Iraq, America’s enemies will still reside in the Mideast; and they will be stronger if we leave behind a failed government and bloodbath in Iraq. Mr. Bush’s successor will have to contain the damage, and that person could even be a Democrat. But by reverting to their Vietnam message of retreat and by blaming Mr. Bush for all the world’s ills, Democrats on Capitol Hill may once again convince voters that they can’t be trusted with the White House in a dangerous world.

…A very different picture to the one the democrats are suggesting.

Rangel is senior Democratic member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee in the House of Representatives and holds the purse strings for Congress.
