Obama Needs to Ditch His Muslim Hat Photos…

With a middle name “Hussein” this photo won’t help Obama win over Middle America…
Free Republic and Sweetness and Light posted this photo of Barack Obama celebrating his Kenyan roots dressed as a Somali elder:

Barack’s funny hat moment posted at the National Examiner on February 4.

The photo was originally posted at Hans-Geeska Afrika Online during Barack Obama’s trip home to Kenya in September 2006.
Here is the caption:

U.S. Senator Barack Obama, right, is dressed as a Somali Elder by Sheikh Mahmed Hassan, left, during his visit to Wajir, a rural area in northeastern Kenya, near the borders with Somalia and Ethiopia. The area is at the epicenter of a severe drought that has hit the Horn of Africa region, after erratic and insufficient rains during the April-June season.

Astute Bloggers has an update on the “Kenyan” garb.

UPDATE: (Monday) Drudge is reporting that Hillary staffers are circulating the Obama photo today.

UPDATE 2: Obama slams the “shameful offensive fear-mongering.”

UPDATE 3: Now, the Clinton camp responds to the Obama Campaign:

e-mailed to reporters from Maggie Williams, manager of the Clinton campaign, posted at USA Today:

“Enough.

“If Barack Obama’s campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely.

“This is nothing more than an obvious and transparent attempt to distract from the serious issues confronting our country today and to attempt to create the very divisions they claim to decry.”

“We will not be distracted.”

Huh?
Oh… And, USA Today says this is not Muslim garb… It is.

UPDATE 4: The Sun-Times has some background on the Muslim garb photo.

UPDATE 5: Error Theory agrees that USA Today needs to post a correction.

UPDATE 6: In surfing the net I found this photo of the Obama’s Kenyan father:

According to Kovarish: She left him – when Barak jr was only 2 years old, on discovering that he had left a 18 year old, pregnant wife (Kezia) in Kenya. Barak’s dad (1936-1982) and mom (1942-1995) are both deceased.
