“Let me sign that thing. All I want to do is get my signature on here. That Pelosi woman is nuts. We want her to allow drilling. They can drill in my back yard if they want to. I want plain coal, I want gas and oil everywhere we can find it.”

On Speaker Pelosi’s refusal to allow the US to develop its own reserves
August, 2008
Texas Representative Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) met his Texas constituents at the pump with a petition to collect signatures demanding an immediate vote on drilling.
Here is the excellent video from KTLV TV Texas on his petition drive to drill:
That was a great report!
Today over 60% of Americans believe that Congress should vote on drilling right now.
Republicans this week went back to their districts to gather signatures to call Pelosi back to Congress.
Rep. Hensarling and Republicans want Pelosi to come back to Washington and deal with this crisis.
Here are a few more responses to the petition:
“Let me sign that thing. All I want to do is get my signature on here. That Pelosi woman is nuts. We want her to allow drilling. They can drill in my back yard if they want to. I want plain coal, I want gas and oil everywhere we can find it. “- Athens Resident
“It hits us at home and my husband has a trucking company.” Marie Gonzales (Jacksonville, TX)
“I’m hoping it will bring the Congress back to work, And bring drill here drill now.” Josie Schoolercraft (Jacksonville, TX)
“I cut 10 percent of my RPMs on my engine, (adjusted) my air conditioning and upped my mileage by 10 percent on my car. People haven’t slowed down, though. They’re still driving 70, 75 miles per hour. What we need to do is drill. There’s enough oil.” Phillip Morris (Palestine, TX)
“I hope they can do something. I don’t know whether he’ll have any luck or not. It seems like Pelosi has a lot of power.” Virginia Broadway (Palestine, Texas
