Sick, Sexist, Dishonest & Biased… Comparing the Media Coverage of Palin to Previous Candidates

Popular Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was mayor of an Alaska town when Barak Obama was working as a community organizer.

When Sarah Palin left a “controversial” church in 2002 Barack Obama had not yet published his second book dedicated to his anti-AmeriKKKan racist pastor who regularly blamed whites for the world’s ills. Obama titled the book after one of his racist sermons. Obama did not leave the racist church until 3 months ago.

While Sarah Palin was a mayor, Obama was a community organizer working with terrorist Bill Ayers on an education project that doled out funds to at least one declared Maoist and former radical.

While Sarah Palin was raising her children Barack Obama was having dinner regularly with a former PLO operative.

So how does the media treat this popular Alaska governor who has served as mayor, held a state post and chaired the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and served as governor for 2 years?

** They attack her and disrespect her many years of service:

Unreal!… Did they ever once drill the community organizer on his qualifications?
Has the media ever been so disrespectful to a governor? Or, is this just because she’s a woman governor?
Disgusting!

They lie and distort her words:

William Kristol at the Daily Standard reported on the malicious smear against the governor today:

Here are the headline and the first two paragraphs from an article posted online that apparently will be on the front page of Friday’s Washington Post:

Palin Links Iraq to 9/11, A View Discarded by Bush
By Anne E. Kornblut Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, September 12, 2008; A01

FORT WAINWRIGHT, Alaska, Sept. 11 — Gov. Sarah Palin linked the war in Iraq with the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, telling an Iraq-bound brigade of soldiers that included her son that they would “defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans.”

The idea that Iraq shared responsibility with al-Qaeda for the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, once promoted by Bush administration officials, has since been rejected even by the president himself. On any other day, Palin’s statement would almost certainly have drawn a sharp rebuke from Democrats, but both parties had declared a halt to partisan activities to mark Thursday’s anniversary.”

Kornblut’s interpretation of what Palin said is either stupid or malicious. Palin is evidently saying that American soldiers are going to Iraq to defend innocent Iraqis from al Qaeda in Iraq, a group that is related to al Qaeda, which did plan and carry out the Sept. 11 attacks. It makes no sense for Kornblut to claim that Palin is arguing here that Saddam Hussein’s regime carried out 9/11–obviously Palin isn’t saying that our soldiers are now going over to Iraq to fight Saddam’s regime. Palin isn’t linking Saddam to 9/11.

Power Line has more on this false hit-job on Governor Palin.

** They attack her for having small children at home.
This is a sexist tactic they never did with Barack Obama or previous candidates.

Michael Zak at Grand Old Partisan compared the coverage the media is giving Sarah Palin with previous politicians with young children:

Democrats who criticize Republican nominee Sarah Palin for running for vice president while she has young children should remember their history.

President John Kennedy received lavish praise from the media for having John-John and Caroline romp around the White House.

(History Place)

On January 20, 1961, John Kennedy was younger than Sarah Palin will be on inauguration day.

When he became vice president, Theodore Roosevelt was three years younger than Sarah Palin will be on January 20, 2009. Did the Democrats dare to criticize this great man for running for vice president while having a young family?

And let’s not get started about Abraham Lincoln and his young sons in the White House.

Michael Zak has more on the attacks.

The media’s coverage of Governor Sarah Palin is a disgrace.
