Firefighters and union protesters flocked to the Michigan Capitol today against proposed legislation that will strengthen the power of emergency financial managers.
Do these people ever have to work?
The Michigan legislature is expected to pass the bill.
WXYZ reported:
The Michigan State Capitol Police confirm protesters have gathered throughout the halls of the state capitol building to show their opposition to bills that would strengthen the power of emergency financial managers.
The protesters include firefighters and union members. They are protesting what they say to be “anti-union” legislation.
Specifically, they are protesting bills that would strengthen the power of emergency financial managers for distressed cities and school districts, allowing them to get rid of union contracts.
These bills were proposed to be acted on today.
