VIDEO — Massive Tornado Strikes Mobile, Alabama on Christmas Day

A massive tornado struck downtown Mobile today on Christmas day.
WKYC has video:

Local FOX 10 had this: The National Weather Service said at 4:59 p.m. a confirmed large and extremely dangerous tornado was located near downtown Mobile or five miles southeast of Interstate 65 and US 45 moving northeast at 45 mph

WKYC reported:

A large tornado has been reported on the ground near Mobile, Alabama, on this Christmas Day.

The National Weather Service said at 4:59 p.m. (CST) a confirmed large and extremely dangerous tornado was located near downtown Mobile or five miles southeast of Interstate 65 and US 45.

The storm was moving northeast at 45 mph.

This area is under an especially high risk for tornadoes associated with a strong storm that is developing and will cause blizzard conditions in parts of the Midwest and lower Great Lakes on Wednesday.

There have no been no reports of injuries.

More… Five areas of Mobile were hit, from Tillman’s Corner to medical district.

UPDATE: New tornado watch has been issued for south-southeast Alabama and Florida panhandle and southwest Georgia until 4 AM CST.
