Barack Obama disqualified students from Ariel University from attending his speech this week because they study at a West Bank settlement school.
Ariel University students posted this banner on their Facebook page this week after they were banned from attending Barack Obama’s Thursday speech.
On Tuesday Ariel University students protested Obama outside the American consulate.
Israel National News reported:
Dozens of students from Ariel University in Samaria (Shomron) made the journey to Jerusalem on Tuesday to protest outside the American consulate. The students protested their exclusion from United States President Barack Obama’s planned speech in Jerusalem later this week.
Obama’s staff invited students from every other Israeli university, but left students from Ariel off the list.
The students put up signs saying, “Students from Ariel. We are not invisible. We will not be ignored.”
They were joined by MK Yoni Chetboun of the Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) party. Chetboun has previously appealed directly to Obama to include students from Ariel in the audience for his planned address.
Ariel University is the only Israeli university east of the 1949 armistice line.
