In a move that Harvard professor, Alan Dershowitz, calls “immoral”, a Jewish university is awarding former president and anti-Israel activist Jimmy Carter with an International Advocate for Peace Award.

The Washington Free Beacon reports,

Pro-Israel activists have launched a campaign to prevent a Jewish university from presenting anti-Israel former President Jimmy Carter with the school’s “International Advocate for Peace Award.”

Yeshiva University’s Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law is scheduled to present Carter with the award on Wednesday, leading former alumni and pro-Israel advocates to galvanize in opposition to what they say is the former president’s anti-Israel views.

“I can’t imagine a worse candidate for any kind of a human rights award,” Harvard law professor and pro-Israel author Alan Dershowitz told theWashington Free Beacon Monday. “He has more blood on his hands than practically any other president,” Dershowitz said, referring to Carter’s silence in the face of Communist leader Pol Pot’s slaughter of some 2 million Cambodians.

Carter, author of the controversial book, Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid, has met with the terrorist group Hamas and rallied against Israel on the international stage, providing much fodder for the Jewish state’s fiercest critics.

“He has encouraged terrorism and violence by Hamas and Hezbollah,” Dershowitz said, who dubbed students’ desire to award Carter as “immoral.”

Haaretz gives an example of the many slanderous, anti-Israel comments made by Jimmy Carter over the years.

“Visiting Damascus, he told the media that the residents of Gaza ‘are held in a cage or prison while their human rights are taken away,’ the ADL chief added, claiming the majority and intensity of his criticisms during his visit to the region were directed at Israel.”

Of course, Carter didn’t mention any of the violence and acts of terrorism by Hamas and Hezbollah against the Jews.  What’s worse is Carter’s anti-Israel tirade was made after publishing a letter of apology to the Jews in Israel asking forgiveness for his history of anti-Israel rants.  And he’s receiving an award for this horrid behavior?  Professor Dershowitz is right.  This is immoral.
