Republican US Senate Candidate Holds Press Conference In Front Of Democrat Opponent’s “Crack House” – UPDATED: Protesters Disrupt “Go Back Where You Came From!”
It turns out, until very recently Mayor Booker held some abandoned property in his real estate portfolio, and that property is now being used as a “crack house.” He only divested himself of the property a few months ago through slight of hand by donating it to a charity he founded.
His challenger, Mayor Lonegan, has decided to hold a press conference to highlight the situation, directly in front of the Booker crack house. (h/t Instapundit)
Newark – Mayor Steve Lonegan, the Republican candidate for the United States Senate, will hold a press conference today in front of Cory Booker’s abandoned property, now a crack house.
What: Press Conference Exposing Booker as Part of the Problem
When: Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 2:30 p.m.
Where: 130 Court Street
Newark, NJ 07103
Perfect. We’ll try and get video if/when it becomes available, although it probably won’t be getting too much exposure from the majors.
UPDATE: Click on the image below to see pics from the press conference. There are some very dramatic images in there. Some of the local residents were very angry Lonegan was there and they weren’t shy about expressing it.
Please let there be audio/video from the event. There’s at least one camera spotted in the images at the link.
UPDATE: Community “activists” disrupt Lonegan press conference, shout “Go back where you came from!”
before Steve Lonegan could begin criticizing the mayor for allowing his former Court Street property to fall into disrepair, a mysterious group of men began shouting him down.
“We don’t want you in Newark!” they shouted. “Go back where you came from!”
Curious what they mean by “go back where you came from.” If that was a white mob shouting that to a black man or a brown man, there might be an accusation of racism thrown around.
UPDATE: Here’s a video report of the event Lonegan/Booker Crack house press conference. It’s from NBC New York, so notice how they only give passing reference to the pro-crack house protesters who were trying to shut Lonegan down. Certainly no mention that their taunts were potentially racist. Looking for citizen journalist coverage of the event now.
