Outrageous… StL Post Dispatch Attacks Republicans As Racist Confederate Rebels

Republican flag

Racism!  Racism!  Racism!

While Obama and Harry Reid continue their petulant refusal to negotiate with the Republicans over the government shutdown, the St. Louis Post Dispatch is scrambling to distract us.

They don’t like it when co-equal branches of government function as they should to keep a tyrannical majority from taking over.  So they revert to pointing to Republicans and screaming RACISM!  A Confederate flag, the N—– word, a head count of the white people, followed by a rebel yell.  Those are the “facts” and statistics the newspaper chooses to share in defining the problem behind the government shutdown.

From The St. Louis Post Dispatch,

Regarding the government shutdown, some telling statistics:

  • There are 232 Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Of these, 206 are white men.
  • Forty-one percent of the GOP seats — 96 of them — come from the 11 states of the old Confederacy. Democrats hold only 40 seats from these states, giving the Republicans a 56-seat edge. In non-southern states, Democrats have a 24-seat majority.
  • Forty-one House members comprise the core group pressing Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, against compromising on the Affordable Care Act and government spending. Of these 41, all but three are white men. More than half of them come from Southern states.

Anthea Butler, a professor of religious studies at the University of Pennsylvania and a black woman who has become a tea party non-favorite, has looked at statistics like these and Tweeted her conclusions: “Please note that the last govt shut down was with the fake black president Clinton. Now they have a real black president to mess with.” And “You’d have to be blind to think that race does not play into this stupidity.” …

Republicans say of course not. Race has nothing to do with. It’s just an unfortunate coincidence that so many black people are poor, live in bad housing, attend bad schools, have higher unemployment rates and — in the St. Louis region have a median household income $31,118 lower than white households.

Insert rebel yell here.

Great comment from Redwine123:

Someone please tell the racists at the St. Louis Post Dispatch (the majority of whom are probably white men) that the ONLY Black person in the US Senate is a Republican, Tim Scott (R-SC).

Thanks for sharing!
