For illegals fleeing Guatemala to Mexico it only costs them $1.30 and a few minutes to catch a ride across the river into Mexico. Gary Tuchman at CNN reported that local police stand by and do nothing as illegals flood into Mexico.
“The police here are not only friendly but encouraged us to take a ride on a raft.”
Once in Mexico they take taxis, vans and bicycle taxis to a local city where they plan the rest of their trip to the US.
