Obama Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald told a homeless veteran in a recent interview that he served in Special Forces.
The conversation was captured by CBS during a segment on homeless veterans.
When the homeless veteran told VA Secretary McDonald he was in the special forces, McDonald replied,
“Special forces? What years? I was in special forces!”
It was a lie. Robert McDonald never served in the Special Forces.
Tonight McDonald released a statement after he was caught lying about his military service.

While I was in Los Angeles, engaging a homeless individual to determine his Veteran status, I asked the man where he had served in the military. He responded that he had served in special forces. I incorrectly stated that I had been in special forces. That was inaccurate and I apologize to anyone that was offended by my misstatement.
