No Joke: Mitt Romney to Box Evander Holyfield in Salt Lake City

Mitt Romney is preparing for a comeback – in the boxing ring.
Former Governor Mitt Romney will box former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield in a Salt Lake City charity event on May 15.

The fight may have been Romney’s idea.
The Hill reported:

Mitt Romney has reportedly signed on to box former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield.

The two will spar to raise money for Charity Vision, a Salt Lake City organization that gives medical care and surgeries for needy children with vision disorders, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

“It will either be a very short fight, or I will be knocked unconscious,” Romney, 68, told the paper.

“It won’t be much of a fight. We’ll both suit up and get in the ring and spar around a little bit.”

The paper reports that the fundraiser will woo corporate sponsors for between $25,000 and $250,000. The pair will fight in May in Salt Lake City, along with a full card of more competitive matches.

“We just thought it would be a lot better to provide this kind of entertainment rather than just have dinner and listen to speakers,” Romney said.

Hopefully Romney will stay away from Holyfield’s ear.
