A lawyer seeking to free two chimpanzees from a state university took his case to court today.

Steven Wise, an attorney with the Nonhuman Rights Project, argued in court today that chimps are more human than humans.

“They are the kinds of beings who can remember the past, plan ahead for the future, which is one of the reasons why imprisoning a chimpanzee is at least as bad, and maybe even worse than imprisoning a human being.”

Wise argued that holding chimps in cages is akin to slavery.
The proceeding took place in New York state.

It would be interesting to see how many of these activists who want to give apes legal rights are pro-life, huh?
