A driver ran his car into a mini mart.
Three people were shot in Sunset, Louisiana this afternoon including a police officer, who is being air-lifted to a hospital.
KPLC reported:
There are reports of multiple people shot, including a police officer, in Sunset, Louisiana. A law enforcement source tells WAFB the suspected shooter is barricaded inside a mini-mart on Hwy 93 and a standoff is underway.
“We are at the scene right now. We are fixing to make entry into the store to apprehend the suspect. One officer shot and two individuals were stabbed at another location,” said St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.
Sunset Police have confirmed that one of their police officers was shot. Louisiana State Police confirmed that two other people were shot in the incident. Some victims have been transported by Acadian Ambulance from a location on Anna Street.
Source say there are several ambulances and helicopters in the area as there may be “multiple scenes.” The officer was transported via helicopter to a hospital. Colonel Mike Edmonson told AP that the officer was “responsive,” but did not give any further details.
The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is handling the situation. State Troopers have been sent to Sunset. The town is located 10 miles north of Lafayette and 10 miles south of Opelousas.

UPDATE: The man shot an officer, stabbed two people and then barricaded himself in the Exxon station. The suspect’s brother-in-law is on the scene trying to get the suspect to come out safely.
UPDATE: The police officer was killed in the shooting. The gunman was captured after they teargassed the store.
