Lindsey Graham: Better to Lose Presidency than Win with Trump

Republican presidential candidate Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina issued a statement Saturday about Donald Trump in which Graham said it would be better to lose without Trump than win with him.

Zeke Miller of Time posted Graham’s statement to Twitter.

“Due to Donald Trump’s unrelenting and offensive attack on Megyn Kelly and others, we are at a crossroads with Mr. Trump. I applaud Erick Erickson for doing the right thing when he disinvited Donald Trump from a gathering of Republican activists. As a party, we are better to risk losing without Donald Trump than trying to win with him. Enough already with Mr. Trump.

“These statements are not worthy of the office he is seeking nor consistent with the leadership we should expect in a Commander-in-Chief in these dangerous times.”

Trump is under fire for comments he made about Kelly Friday night on CNN. Among other comments, Trump said that Kelly is ‘over rated’ as a journalist.

The comment about Kelly that got Trump uninvited from the Red State meeting:

“There was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her… wherever.”

Republican rival Carly Fiorina tweeted out her support for Kelly Friday night.

“Mr. Trump: There. Is. No. Excuse.”

“I stand with @megynkelly”

Trump posted statements to Twitter Saturday morning trying to clarify his remarks about Kelly and his being banned by Red State.

“Re Megyn Kelly quote: “you could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever” (NOSE). Just got on w/thought”

“.@redstate I miss you all, and thanks for all of your support. Political correctness is killing our country. “weakness.”

Miller also tweeted a longer statement released by Trump later Saturday morning in which Trump said, “Only a deviant would think anything else” that his incomplete statement was meant to end with ‘nose.’
