FOX News reported this morning that Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has dropped out of the race for House Speaker.
McCarthy was widely expected to win the Speakership in a landslide.
McCarthy told the Republican Caucus: “I am not the right person to lead at this moment.”
Then last week McCarthy created a firestorm when he told Sean Hannity the Benghazi investigation was all about politics.
The mistake was exactly what Hillary Clinton needed to revive her campaign.
Today McCarthy dropped from the race for Speaker.
He was concerned he could not get the 218 votes needed to win.
Donald Trump responded to the news:
Great, Kevin McCarthy drops out of SPEAKER race. We need a really smart and really tough person to take over this very important job!
